You've been trained, now you're looking to train others. That's great!
Where to Begin
After completing training for your registered position, you might like to join our training team. Enthusiastic leaders who want to share information with others make Scouting a success.
If you'd like to join our training team, contact your District Training Chair
or District Executive and we'll get you involved.
The Guide to Leader Training and syllabi for all of the courses are available in our related content. The guide outlines
basic responsibilities for volunteer leader training committees and the
methods of BSA volunteer training. The training pages of scouting.org will help you find current resources, forms, and available courses.
To be the most effective trainer, we recommend that you complete at least the following courses. Check out the related content links on this page for more information about each of these.
Fundamentals of Training introduces teaching techniques and
skills to new trainers, and how to present them effectively. This training is created for both youth and adult trainers.
Trainer's EDGE is required for Wood Badge and National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)
staffs. Grey Wolf, Den Chief Training, Youth Leadership Training, and
Order of the Arrow Leadership training are examples of youth courses
that benefit from Trainer's EDGE. This course is perfect for sharpening your training
and presentation skills.
- The Philmont Training Center holds courses in "Master Training" to really put your training skills to the test.
