Program Highlights

Go back to the year 1893 and experience a working logging camp while staying in a 150 year old log cabin heated with wood stove. Each Scout will limb a tree, and use a two-person saw to cut the tree into 16' sections. Scouts take turns driving a team of draft horses as they pull their log out of the woods. Cook hardy meals, blacksmith, and learn the legends of Logging in Wisconsin.

Grade Level

Recommended for 7th grade and above.

$140/youth, $67/adult

Sleeping Arrangements

Sleep inside a wood stove heated cabin Friday and Saturday night at Knapp-Stout Logging Camp.

7:30-8 pm Check-in
8:00 pm Get outfitted, pack supplies
9:00 pm Drop off at trail head to logging camp
9:30 pm Move in, stoke stoves, orientation
10:30 pm Lights out

Saturday
8:00 am Breakfast
9:00 am Lumberjack training
10:00 am Morning rotations
12:30 pm Lunch at cook shanty
1:30 pm Afternoon roations
5:00 pm Return to logging camp
6:00 pm Evening meal
8:00 pm Optional night hike/star gazing

7:45 am Breakfast
8:45 am Pack and hike out
11:00 am Return to Base Camp/check in gear
12:30 pm Banquet
Trading Post open 11-12 am & 1-1:30 pm
1:00 pm Clean Up
1:30 pm Depart for Home
